Christmas Remembered
Smithfield, R.I. – Nov. 10, 2010 – Visit the
historic 17th-century Smith-Appleby House Museum in Smithfield, RI, for
“Smith-Appleby House: Christmas Remembered” on December 5, 2010, Sunday, from
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus have promised to visit the Smith-Appleby House once again,
so bring the camera and the children or grandchildren for a chat and photograph
with the Dear Old Couple. We have gathered branches and berries to make the old
House glow. Afterward, enjoy a tour of the House and holiday refreshments -
presented by our staff dressed in historic 18th-century style.
Adults are welcome for a $5 donation and children are free. No reservations are
required.
About the Smith-Appleby House Museum
The Smith-Appleby House Museum in Smithfield, RI, began as a one-room
stone-ender with a loft above. It was built (circa 1696) by Elisha Smith, the
grandson of John Smith “The Miller," and a member of Roger William’s original
party of six men who left the Massachusetts Bay Colony to settle in Providence.
Today, the House is on the National Register of Historic Places and is open for
tours during scheduled events or on request. The House and grounds are available
for wedding receptions, showers, ceremonies, family outings, scouting events,
and photographs. For more information, visit
