36th Annual May Breakfast

An old tradition with a new twist. You bring the Champagne; we’ll
provide the orange juice. Enjoy a hearty homemade country breakfast of
muffins, chilled fruit cup, Virginia ham, scrambled eggs, French toast,
johnnycakes and coffee, served by costumed volunteers in our historic
house. $15 per person includes a house tour. Reservation required.

Thresholds Open House

Step Inside History - A Free Statewide Open House. Visit
a variety of historic sites with your family on Mother’s Day weekend for
free! With such a successful turnout last year, Thresholds: Step Inside
History is back to promote the Historic Sites Coalition of Rhode Island
and increase the visibility of the twenty-six participating sites.
lExplore historic sites in a neighboring county or visit ones in your
own backyard! Don’t miss out on this exciting day of celebrating Rhode
Island’s heritage!

Children’s Teddy Bear Tussy Mussy Tea

This is a Victorian style tea where
guests are seated among our growing collection of teddy bears. Classic
tea sandwiches and a splendid array of homemade desserts will be
featured. Following their tea, the children will make a Tussy Mussy
bouquet, and learn about the language of flowers in the Victorian era.

Ice Cream Social

During the days of Myra Appleby, numerous
socials were held at the homestead. We will be serving ice cream with
your choice of toppings, $4 per dessert includes a beverage. Tours of
the house will be available, $4 per adult, children free. |

Revolutionary War Re-enactment

Here is an opportunity for children and grownups alike to experience
living history. Speak with the men and women who portray the lives of
the soldiers and camp followers during the Revolutionary War. Free to
the public, tours of the museum, $4 per adult, children free. |

Apple Social

Seasonal New England at its best, combined with another favorite of
ours, the Apple Social. We will be serving homemade apple desserts and
ice cream while they last. $4 per dessert includes a beverage. |

Owls of New England
October 10
2:00 – 4:00 pm
Learn about the species of owls that are native to the area in the
pastoral surroundings of our historic house. Participants will meet
live owls up close, create a stenciled owl craft, and then tour the
museum with its original stenciling. Refreshments will be served.
Appropriate for families as well as adults attending alone.
Co-sponsored with the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, Pre-registration
is required; call the ASRI at (401) 949-5454. $15 Adult/Child Pair, $8

Colonial Dinner
– Our Favorites
November 13 & 14
Seating: 6:30 pm
Our costumed
volunteers serve this candlelit Colonial dinner. The menu will be
comprised of recipes that we particularly enjoy, including corn bread, a
hearty soup, a special entrée, coffee and dessert. Reserve early to

Christmas Traditions
December 6

Mr. & Mrs. Claus are stopping by on their way to the North Pole, so
please bring your camera and your children, or grandchildren for a
special photograph with Santa. At our house, Christmas is still
homespun, natural and a lovely way to start the holiday season. Adults
$5, children free. Holiday refreshments will be served as our gift to
you. |
