Sunday, May 1st, at the Smith-Appleby House Museum in Smithfield, RI. At the
event, volunteers in Colonial costume will treat guests at the historic 18th
century home to a homemade breakfast of Johnny cakes, blueberry and
cranberry bread, chilled fruit cup, breakfast strata, Grandma’s old

Smith-Appleby House Museum "School groups can experience Colonial
history locally with a host of educational programs designed for students of
all ages at the nearby Smith-Appleby House Museum in Smithfield, RI. The
Smith-Appleby House originated as a one-room stone-ender with a loft, built
circa 1696 by Elisha Smith, a grandson of John Smith “The Miller” –one of
Roger William’s original party of six men who left the Massachusetts Bay
Colony to settle in Providence. Later generations of the family expanded the

Smith-Appleby House Decorates for Winter Tours, Announces Calendar
"Branches, berries, and candles festively decorate the Smith-Appleby House
Museum at 220 Stillwater Rd. in Smithfield, Rhode Island -- one of the few
17th century houses still standing in the state. The house will be present
its "Festive Decorations" Winter Tours, hosted by volunteers in Colonial
period attire, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays throughout December and
January (Dec. 23 & 30, 2010, and on Jan. 6, 13, 20 & 27, 2011). Donation:
Adults, $4. Children, free. No reservations are needed."

Remembered "Visit the historic 17th-century Smith-Appleby House Museum
in Smithfield, RI, for “Smith-Appleby House: Christmas Remembered” on
December 5, 2010, Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus
have promised to visit the Smith-Appleby House once again, so bring the
camera and the children or grandchildren for a chat and photograph with the
Dear Old Couple. We have gathered branches and berries to make the old House
glow. Afterward, enjoy a tour of the House and holiday refreshments -
